On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, your host Andy Riddle discusses why you need to find a person to compete and compare yourself to so that you push yourself to be more successful.

What do you set your thermostat on in your home? You know where it needs to be for you to be happy. Life is the same way. How do you set the temperature of your life? You will always be hot or cold based on where you are at and based on where you want to be. You can get too hot or too cold, and then you make adjustments.

How is your self-confidence? Do you talk to yourself and assure yourself that you can achieve something? The more you talk about it, the more likely you are to actually do it.

Do you trust yourself enough to follow through? Do you keep promises you make? Doing that helps your confidence in yourself.

Are you self aware? Winners know their environment so well, they take ownership of it and they are confident they can turn it around when it is not in the proper place.

Who do you hang around? Are you actively getting people that are more successful than you? Get around the heat so that you catch fire too.

Do you settle for good when great is just a few feet away? Tom Brady doesn't just want to make the playoffs each year. He wants to win the Super Bowl, and he expects to win it.

How can you compete properly in your life?

Be crystal clear about what you want. Be exact.

What is your why? Do you know your dreams and how to chase them?

Do you execute? What's the plan? Are you willing to outwork everybody? Can you be the hardest worker by 10 times your closet competitor? Compete against your standards! Compete against yourself as though you have a twin in the room.

Don't quit! If you stick with it, you will make it. Work until it works!

On this episode of the Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright brings you another hard-hitting pod about why promotion matters.

Springtime in N.C.is a time when flowers start blooming, pollen is everywhere and it is the time to grow. This is the time of year when people work outside and get to see the results of that work. That’s what The Alliance is doing too. We do this by watching what we see and what people do in terms of getting promoted. The fruit is what we look at here.

Facts, opinions and emotions. It’s mindset. When it comes to getting promoted you have to think ahead. How do you find people that are sharper than what you got now? You have to look … a lot. You have to talk to people … a lot. Schedule things out for 90 days so that you know how you want things to look in the future. You have to act. What’s the picture going to look like in the future.

Once you start taking action, then you have to keep doing it consistently. There will be storms that come as you try to grow. You have to weather those storms and keep pushing forward. When you have made the decision to commit to doing something, then those storms are not going to stop you. Your plan might change and you might pivot, but you will not stop and you will not quit. Doing that involves promotion. When you promote your activity, your people and your plan properly, then you have a greater chance of reaching the vision you see in your head.

The six inches between your ears in your head will determine what you do and where you go. It is about deciding. That starts by promoting for tomorrow today.

What about when a problem comes up? Stop for a second … think about what to do next. Call a person with great ideas. Write it out on paper. Formulate a plan to make the obstacle better. Then, start taking action to fix the problem.

What do you want to avoid doing? Hesitation. If you know there is a problem, you have to address the issue or it will get worse. All talk and no action will get you in more trouble.

Big dreams and big goals will yield big-time results. That involves working hard, fighting for what you want and never settling for good when you want great. That’s the mindset you want to look for in people. The right discipline and focus will cover up a tremendous amount of mistakes. When you begin to attack little mistakes and crush them, then bigger problems start to look smaller when they arise.

Green Book items are huge. ERS section will help you with sales and recruiting if you are able to apply them. Doing the basics. Follow the ATM. Attack what you can control. Lead from the front so that others will want to follow you. Break big items down into smaller pieces so you can get it done faster than if you just sit there and take no action. Control the things you can control and stay focused on those items. Stay on track and keep the main thing the main thing.

What you think about while you are awake, right before you go to bed and when you first get up each day is going to dominate what you do with your time. Focus on what can be done and not on what can’t be done.

Don’t stay focused on your current problems. Promote and plan so that those problems become something you laugh about years from now. The goal is to keep winning so that you end up having bigger problems you never even imagined before later on. There is no gain without pain. There will be a price to pay. No success comes without struggle. However, it is worth it.

Don’t let your imagination get the worst of you. Keep it clear and keep it simple. Learn how to attack life’s problems. Don’t get whipped up in a frenzy over things that are not that big of a deal.

Encourage yourself and other people. It all matters and helps raise the bar for you and those around you. Be a great teammate. Be a great friend. Be a helper, who is willing to listen and find a solution that helps a person move from despair to success.

Next week’s schedule: Monday - San Antonio, Texas; Tuesday - Duluth, Ga.; Wednesday - Lakeland, Fla.; and Thursday - Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
