On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright wants to talk about what it takes to be a winner. The Alliance loves winners. And by winners, that means people that are fanatical about winning. They love to win. They don’t give up. They strive to do their best, and they empower others to do the same. They are committed to winning.

It is more about opportunity and support and less about talent. On page 15 of “Outliers” by Malcom Gladwell, he writes about oak trees growing in the forest.  The tallest oak in the forest is the tallest not just because it grew from the hardest acorn; it is the tallest also because: No other trees blocked its sunlight. The soil was rich around it and deep. No rabbit chewed through its bark when it was a sapling. No lumberjack cut it down before it matured.

We all know that winners come from hardy seeds. But, do we know about the sunlight that warmed them, the soil in which they put down roots and the rabbits and lumberjacks that were lucky enough to avoid them?

Let’s look at this deeper. Sunlight is opportunity. Each year there is a Winter Solstice - it occurs when one of the earth’s poles has its maximum tilt from the sun. The shortest day of the year is seven hours and 49 minutes – marking the start of winter. Even on the shortest day of the year, we have seven hours and 49 minutes to get it done.

Attachment (assimilating) causes or contributes to conformity (peer pressure) and overcomes disfunction. When you add that with commitment (dedication) it causes or contributes to obedience (loyalty) and overcomes deviation.

The soil is our support. The external involvement (association) means working with like minds and causes. It contributes to connection (routine) and overcomes distractions. When you add this to internal belief, it gives a higher purpose (trust) in what’s right or causes and contributes to morality (moral compass) and overcomes detractors.

What about luck? We call it being blessed. This is a label that points out an event’s positive and negative effects. These improbable events happen by random chance … or do they?

Winners know how to take a seed, put it in the ground and put it in an environment where it can grow!

The four Ds to avoid if you want to succeed: Dysfunction, Deviation Distractions and Detractors.

When you can get rid of these things in your life or a person’s life, you are setting up the recipe for success. You can create bonds with people that allow them to grow like that giant oak tree that somehow made it way up high when so many other trees fell short. Creating great bonds with people will help people win.

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright is joined by Damon West, an author and motivational speaker who will be a keynote speaker at National Convention in January of 2020.

Albright had West on to talk about his book, “The Change Agent,” and to talk about what he will share with The Alliance at NatCon 2020 in Burlington, N.C.

West was a star high school quarterback, got a scholarship but was injured. He suffered from substance abuse, which led him down the wrong path in life and landed him in prison eventually.

West talked about the importance of being a servant leader in life and business. West believes that God granted him a second chance to do something with his life. He wants to make the most of the opportunity to reach other people who are struggling with where they are in life. West wants to serve others in any capacity possible. He believes doors open when you do what you believe God is asking you to do.

Positive energy creates more positive energy. Damon West plans to bring even more positivity to The Alliance at NatCon 2020. West wants to show people how to become like a coffee bean. He wants to help people change their mindset. He wants to take your belief level to a place you didn’t think was possible. West wants you to become the best version of you right now. Most people have everything they need to be successful inside of them, but we have to help get it out of them.

A lot of people think another person doesn't need them. Why? We all need to help set an example for others, and we need provide people with the opportunity to be successful. We have to do this for all people. We need to set goals. That's how a dream becomes a reality. If you can get a "dream" then you can work to make it a reality. 

Get obsessed with something. Tell others. Explain it to people. Show them. Coach them. 

Start with the end in mind. What's the end goal? Results!

Evaluate skills. What knowledge is needed? Think about how and who can make it happen. 

Think about priority and activity. 

Set up yourself. Self-talk. Future. Truth. 

Go, move and evaluate. What are your most important actions? What do you need to do non-stop? It's work, more work and more work.

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright comes to you live from his office in Burlington, N.C. Andy was joined by a special guest Chad Owen, who flew in from Austin, Texas to share his knowledge of annuities and life insurance.

What are you doing today to grow? Are you better today than yesterday? Are you actively helping other people? That’s the way to get what you want. You start helping others. The more people you help, the faster you will get what you want.

When you believe in something bigger than yourself, then you will succeed. When you are working to help people, they have to believe in what you are bringing to the table. It doesn’t matter if they have $100 or $1 million. It’s about helping people.

Failure is the same in public or behind closed doors. You have to do everything possible to win by helping people. To truly win, you must go deep and wide.

About 20 percent of the things you do are effective. The other 80 percent doesn’t matter. We have to learn to procrastinate more and stop doing the stuff that isn’t working. Put things off until later or until you don’t do it ever.

On the last The Wednesday Call podcast, Davies covered identifying the kind of people we are looking for and the choices and voices that drive us to where we are going.

On this pod, we do a deep dive on the characteristics, but we want to think through two lenses: who we are looking for and how "I" need to stay and keep growing.

When you are coaching people, you will see people who will have these qualities and they reach a point of success then slow down. You will also find people that will try to "head fake" you. Don't fall in love with those kinds of people, they are the wrong people.

GRATITUDE

This is simple. Operate from a place of gratitude ... always! Don't get fooled by words when it comes to gratitude. Gratitude leads to appreciation, altruism and acknowledgement.

Through appreciation there is thankfulness and agreeableness. In altruism we find selflessness and a "love thy neighbor" attitude. With acknowledgement we see indebtedness, consciousness and the pursuit of excellence.

If somebody can't be counted on then they are not grateful.

COACHABLE

Coachable people are transparent. They don't judge without cause.

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright talks to you about being a winner, which starts with hunger and desire.

Andy wanted to be successful so bad it mad him crazy. He wanted it no matter what.

How do you win? Through focus, being crazy about it and by staying determined to do it. Andy was never looking for balance. He wanted to be off balance.

What do focused people do?

What do crazy people do?

What do determined people do?

Winners share similar traits.

They have a peace and calm about them. They slow down and take a look around. When you see a deer in the road, you should try to hit it. Aim at it, look at coming traffic, glance in rear view mirror and tap the break.

When something happens, do not panic. Focus on the fix. Be the professional.

Reticular Activation System - Become clear about people, time and stuff.

Excluded Alternative Law - Do tasks with high volume payoffs.

Expediency Principle - People seek the fastest, easiest way to get what they want immediately with little concern for long-term consequences of actions. They have their own interests and benefits first and foremost. Your job is to think about other people first. If they benefit from what you offer, you both win.

Creative Procrastination - What is most important thing right now? What can wait? What doesn't matter?

When you are looking to hire a person, ask yourself the following questions.

What do they look like?

Where do they hang out?

What do you say to them?

How do you get them started?

How do you grow their self-esteem?

How do you get them to take action?

Too many people think they are the toy when they really need to be the battery that goes in the toy. People react to energy. Hands clapping ... even if it is not real energy. Fake the energy if you have to, but at least create some of it.

Talk to people about friendship and the friendship factor. What do you do to people that makes them want to be around you again? Don't be annoying! Tell people what annoying is and then tell them what people like.

Andy wants to know when you do something if you ask what daY it is or do you say let's do this noW? Are you a Y or W person?

Andy has enjoyed success because he keeps getting back on the horse. Whatever his goal is, he keeps trying. NOW. Diet? Now. Schedule? Now. Staying on schedule is huge. It's great for Y people, but you also need some W too. noW!!!

Fail, fail, fail!!! Keep trying until something works.

Here's some areas to focus on when you are working ...

warm and cold contacting

How to say hello

Creating energy

Being bold

staying with people and loving on them

How you make people feel

Let go of preconceived notions

Remember: Love is automatic, trust is extended and respect is earned. I give those things to people until they prove me right or wrong about them.

Pick the battles you want to win with people. Ask great questions. Follow up consistently. Trust comes from alignment. Show them what we are going to do and get aligned. NOW, let's go!

Grow people everywhere you are by encouraging and talking to people. Tell people you need them. Being vulnerable equals being lovable. Create friendships.

Talk freely about your feelings to create an intimacy and connection with people. Personal, Pervasive and Permanent.

Stand for something or you will fall for everything. If you are nice about everything, you do not win. Don't be passive aggressive. People love passion. Anger is needed at times, but not all the time.
